Public Hearing on Sandy Run Sanitary Sewer project

Public Notice is hereby given that the Town of Brule and Brule Sanitary District No. 1 will hold a public hearing at the Brule Town Hall, 5814 S Maple Street, Brule, WI 54820, on February 9, 2026, at 6:00 pm, to consider a proposed change to the Brule Sanitary District No. 1 Facilities Plan.

WISDOT is planning to replace a deteriorated 78-inch corrugated metal culvert with a single-span concrete girder bridge on Hwy 27 over Sandy Run Creek. The Abbreviated Facilities Plan addresses improvements needed to maintain sanitary sewer service to the nine sanitary connections south of this project along Hwy 27.
WDNR has completed its review of the Brule Sanitary District No. 1 Sandy Run Creek Sewer Relocation Abbreviated Facilities Plan and confirmed that a public hearing is required because the project is anticipated to increase user rates by more than 20% (NR 110.09(4)).

The proposed Brule Sanitary District No. 1 Abbreviated Facilities Plan will be presented to the public. The public hearing will include a discussion of the wastewater facilities planning process, the recommended improvements to the sanitary sewer collection and conveyance system, and the potential financial impact of the proposed improvements. At this hearing, questions regarding the proposed plan will be answered and public comments will be accepted for consideration and submission to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

A copy of the Abbreviated Facilities Plan will be available for public review at the Brule Town Hall (by appointment) after February 9th. To schedule a review time, please contact either the Town Clerk at 218-591-0693 or [email protected] or the Sanitary District Clerk at 218-590-5843 or
[email protected]. Physical copies may be obtained from Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH), 326 South Main Street, Suite 100, Rice Lake, Wisconsin 54868, for a fee of $30.00.
Written comments regarding the project will be accepted by SEH, Inc. until Feb 23, 2026.
Dated this 27th day of January 2026.
